Over the mountains to the Sahara
Itinerary
DAY 1
This is an early start leaving Marrakech at 07:00. We will cross the High Atlas Mountains by way of Tizi-n-Tichka (alt 2260 m). There will be amble opportunities to stop (take photos) and enjoy the panoramic views and many Berber villages along the way.
We will visit Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, which has been declared a world heritage site. Then we continue towards Ouarzazate city with a visit to the Kasbah of Taourirt. This was constructed by Pacha Glaoui (he was a member of one of rich families in the area at the time).
We will have lunch and continue on our journey crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains via Ait Sawn till we reach Agdez. The road then goes through the Draa Valley and Oasis of Palms. We will arrive at Zagora around 17:30 and take a 1.5 hour camel ride. This will be a gentle ride across small sand dunes, reaching a Berber tent in the Sahara for a night in the desert.
Dinner will be provided in the tents and you will sleep in tents under the stars. You will be able to get up before dawn and watch the sunrise over the Sahara dunes and enjoy breakfast before returning back to Marrakech.
DAY 2
After sunrise and breakfast, travel back to Marrakech arriving at 18.30. There will be stops along the way on your journey to Marrakech.

Before booking and before you go, please read the notes below
These are simple tours providing transport. You will be joining a Group Tour with others and this will give you an opportunity to see the sights and perhaps meet some new friends. You will be picked up at your hotel, or meet at Jemma El Fna square (depends on hotel location).
On your return to Marrakech you will be dropped off either near your hotel, if the hotel is en route back to Jemma El Fna, or at Jemma El Fna itself.
